Winki's Diner
About This Spot
Stepping into Winki's Diner feels like slipping into a small town moment frozen in time—where the pace slows just enough for you to savor the simple joys of good company and honest food. Nestled on Old U.S. 10 in St. Regis, this family restaurant exudes a cozy, welcoming vibe that invites travelers and locals alike to linger. The atmosphere hums with soft chatter and the clatter of plates, punctuated by bursts of laughter, making it instantly familiar and comforting.
There’s a warmth here that goes beyond the retro diner booths and classic signage—it’s about the human moments shared over hearty meals and thick, nostalgic milkshakes. The menu leans into all the favorites that feel like a treat after a long day on the road or a pause during a local outing. Imagine the subtle sweetness of a huckleberry shake or the satisfying heft of a burger stacked just right, paired with fries cut in a shape that somehow feels both new and comfortably known. These aren’t just bites to eat; they’re little celebrations of Montana’s spirit and flavors in a friendly, unpretentious setting.
Whether you’re stopping for a quick pit stop or settling in for a leisurely meal, the diner’s rhythm is unhurried and genuine. It’s clear the folks behind the counter take pride in doing things right—crafting each dish with care and serving it with a smile, making every visit feel personal despite the diner’s steady flow. Winki’s holds a certain nostalgic charm, balancing the bustle of the highway with a homey refuge where food and human connection meet in the most satisfying way.

Winki’s is slapping your lips with delicious food. Maybe get you a Winki to nibble on while you drive over the pass? Maybe get you a Winki to nibble on while someone else drives you over the pass? Maybe get you a Winki and nibble on that deliciousness out in your vehicle before you drive over the pass. Maybe grab you a huckleberry milkshake to wash down that yummy burger you just nibbled down.

Cute little burger shack with amazing fries! Great customer service and fast! Also almost half the price of the place down the street

Get the huckleberry milkshake!!!!! The signs on I90 said the best in the world, so I had to try. This stuff absolutely rocks. Every milkshake for the rest of my life would be this milkshake if I could, but alas, I'm from Philly, not Montana. Burgers are also huge and delicious and the fries are good too. I highly recommend stopping here and definitely at least try the Huckleberry milkshake! So good! I don't even normally like milkshakes that much lol.

This was a very pleasant surprise on our journey. I had a bacon cheeseburger and my wife had a mushroom swiss burger. Both burgers were delicious. The fries were awesome. The atmosphere was great. A nice nostalgia filled little diner. Just some small town hard working people doing it right. If I ever travel this way again, I will make it a point to stop here.

Winki's was a great little spot to grab dinner on the way through St. Regis. Would highly recommend the burgers, fries and shakes. I have never had fries cut in this shape before it was the perfect mix of the crispy fries and a wedge or JoJo. We got a Peanutbutter shake it was so thick and creamy.

Best burger and fries I've had in a long time. I got the mushroom burger. It was so good and the fries are perfect. I had to leave an excellent tip because wow. The first waitress was kind and polite as well as their chef. They're non-dairy soft serve ice cream is the best I've ever had. The texture of the ice cream is spot on. Their prices are excellent for what you get. The beauty of the inside of the restaurant definitely brings this place it to life. It's only missing a record player for everyone to enjoy sounds from this time era. I've come here 3 days in a row. That's how good this place is! I give this 10 out of 10.

Winki's is everything a diner should be (and more). Drawn by the alluring energy of the classic, retro establishment, we were compelled to stop in and rest for a while within the warm embrace of simpler times, tasty burgers, and refreshing shakes. The service was top-knotch, a smile and a kind word always welcomed by travelers such as we. I enjoyed the banana shake more than I can say, each sip filling me not only with flavor and nourishment but with a strange recollection of bygone times, an alternate timeline where we did right and remained on course. I do hope to visit Winki's again some day soon, if fate allows.
